Supporting our communities

We focus our philanthropy on non-profit institutions and initiatives that enable innovation in life sciences, reduce the risk of disease, and strengthen and ensure equal access to quality healthcare.

Partnerships promoting access to high-quality care

Mount Sinai

We have committed $20 million to Mount Sinai to promote health equity in the United States and across the world.

The Mount Sinai-Royalty Pharma Alliance for Health Equity Research leverages our proprietary data and Mount Sinai’s population data to identify racial and other inequities in how patients with common diseases are treated—and the outcomes of treatment.

This research is helping to translate medical discoveries into sustainable, scalable initiatives and policies that break down systemic barriers to care.

Life Science Cares New York

Royalty Pharma is a founding corporate partner of Life Science Cares (LSC) New York, which fights poverty and inequity in the city through education.

LSC New York brings together the resources of New York’s life sciences industry with local non-profits who understand specific community needs.

Its non-profit partners, BioBus and HYPOTHEkids, unlock opportunities for the New York’s underserved and underrepresented children to benefit from STEM education and build careers in life sciences.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)

Myeloma is the most common blood cancer in African-Americans who are less likely to receive the newest information and therapies and more likely to experience treatment delays.

We have committed $7.5 million to LLS, a global leader in the fight against blood cancer.

Through its Myeloma Link education and outreach initiative, LLS works with African-American communities to raise awareness about myeloma and connect patients with the resources they need.

Supporting physicians in emerging markets

Improving the health ecosystem in Latin America

Our CEO and founder, Pablo Legorreta, has spent over a decade working to improve the health ecosystem in Latin America, an important emerging market. Through his efforts, Mr. Legorreta connected Alianza Médica para la Salud (AMSA), a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and empowering physicians in Latin America, with the Open Medical Institute (OMI), an international initiative which aims to improve healthcare on a global scale through education and research.

The partnership gives young physicians from Latin America the opportunity to be trained by the OMI, improving their medical skillsets and empowering them to enhance the health care systems in their own local communities.

Working with our communities

We give back to our local community through a range of in-person volunteering events

We also run a matching charitable donation program, which entitles each of our employees to a match of up to $1,000 in donations to the charities of their choosing.
