    Dr. John Allen

While working at a major regional hospital, Dr. John Allen developed ABC*, a novel antibiotic solution to a condition associated with a serious genetic disorder.  Dr. Allen, assigned the patent on ABC to the hospital, which licensed its patent rights to a major pharmaceutical company in exchange for a royalty on ABC sales.   Due to Dr. Allen’s instrumental role in the discovery of the solution, he was granted 30% of the royalties to which the hospital was entitled from the license of the patent rights.

Through the assignment of his rights to Royalty Pharma, the inventor was able to monetize his future royalties.  He was able to collect the fruits of his research immediately instead of waiting for the royalty stream to pay him over time.
